Ok . . . I think I just found my new sports watching passion. It is - SLAMBALL.
My sister's friend introduced it to me this evening. It's a great sport that's purely designed for viewing. In case you haven't heard of it, it's on TNN (about the only quality thing I've seen from that station). Monday nights at 'bout 11-9 or so. Anyhoo, it's pretty much full contact jungle ball with trampolines to help the players slam dunk.
So, it combines the best of four sports. 1) The teamwork, passing, shooting, dunking greatness of basketball. 2) the deflector walls and brutal hits of hockey. 3) the lack of uniforms of Rugby. 4) Trampolines.
And, it avoids, by solid design, the worst of sports. 1) Due to excessive violence, pretty boy hype celeberties like Coby Bryant won't be coming around. 2) Due to lack of fouls and great faceoffs, collisions, and play make-ability redundancy will never set in.
Now, this is coming from a guy who only watches NBA basketball on television if his favorite team is playing a big game. I like SLAMBALL. Go watch, it's the american thing to do.
